The STEP Youth Crew (SYC) is STEP Studio’s homegrown youth performance team, bringing together passionate young dancers who are committed to growing their craft, challenging themselves and creating meaningful work together.

Established in 2015, SYC has grown through years of consistent training, competition and performance, representing both STEP Studio and Singapore on international stages. Under the mentorship of Step and Deo, the team has achieved significant milestones including 1st Place in the Professional Category at the FINALS International Dance Competition in Germany, as well as strong placements at international competitions across Asia and beyond.

Their competitive journey has taken them to Germany, Philippines, Indonesia and the USA, including the World of Dance Championship Finals in Los Angeles. In 2022, the team achieved 1st Place in the Open Age Contemporary Group category at Get The Beat, continuing a five-year consecutive winning streak, with their work going on to receive Overall Champion, Highest Scoring Act, Studio Excellence and Best Choreography at the Australia World Finals.

Beyond the accolades, what defines SYC is their commitment to one another. They train with discipline, learn through challenges and believe in growing the team above the individual, and connection above competition.

For many of these young dancers, STEP has been a place where they have grown up — not just as performers, but as individuals. Through the years, they have learned to trust one another, find courage in difficult moments and discover the strength that comes from creating something together.

More than a team, SYC is a family built through movement, memories and a shared belief in the magic of dance.
